i ♥ christmas with isis sturtewagen

I know Christmas is all about tradition, but I do like holiday decor that is a little outside-the-box. You know, that still encompasses what is tried and true, but with a twist – original items like this hademade heart by Isis Sturtewagen. Isis, a veritable maestro of DIY, fashioned this inspired wreath of lavender leaves and rose hips from her very own Belgium garden. I love how the frosty, spiky, sage green leaves contrast, and yet at the same time complement, the warm, plump, persimmon-hued berries. It’s definitely a Christmas wreath, but not your typical evergreen and holly berry. It’s not even round; it’s a heart! Genius. Placed against this black chalk board, it’s totally fabulous!

And then…

Isis also fashioned these wonderful heart ornaments out of left over fabric. They are so simple and pretty. And yet, with their rough tweeds and rich velvety coats, they have just enough grit to save them from being too precious.

You can find more of Isis’s creative endeavors on her blogs Paper Flower Girl and Thé Dansant, and purchase items at her shop.
