Though Modology has been around for a few years, I just recently discovered these groovy credenzas. They are the work of designer Keith Chrapliwy, a graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Chrapliwy initially learned the art of furniture making from his grandfather, and now continues the tradition of craftsmanship with Modology. All of Modology’s retro/modern credenzas are made to order, constructed by hand from cabinet grade walnut plywood with solid breadboard edging and doweled joints. The colorful, striped, sliding doors – which to me are vaguely reminiscent of Morris Louis – are hand finished lucite. While bright, the color combinations are so complementary and the hues so rich, that they are never garish. Indeed they are quite lovely and look amazing in an otherwise black and white decor.┬áPart art, part furniture, Modology‘s credenzas have the makings of a contemporary classic.

Modology credenzas. Each cabinet is totally customizable; you can choose from different sizes, finishes, and color combos as well as dowel, aluminum or Nelson legs.
