the waning beauty of fall

October 28, 2011

As leaves turn and flowers fade, fall is the time when we begin to appreciate Nature’s more skeletal forms. No longer lush, late autumn embodies the cool beauty of the first frost, the textures of naked sticks and wizened vegetation. It’s perhaps the most modest of all seasons, full of a quiet grace, when, after the last riotous burst from sunset leaves, the season calms to a twilight loveliness.

Clockwise from the top: bean pod decoration from Plad, nested bird branch from Terrain, Cara cup by Rina Ono from Mjolk, Shelter Island Rock by White Forest Pottery, driftwood necklace by Iswas and Willbe, Mango Wood Bread Board from Toast, Beechnut hanging by Trove from Papa Stour, tree bench by FabLAB Atelier.
