Since our beach cottage is seasonal, we often stay at my Aunt Stephanie’s Cape house during the winter months. Her large, sun drenched home is such a sanctuary from life in our cramped apartment. We spread out on comfy furniture and take nature walks, and I often take pictures of the house, because that’s what I do.
I’ve already photographed all the rooms as a whole, so this weekend I concentrated on the details. I love the results. Surprisingly, I think that these photos capture the essence of Stephanie’s aesthetic – zen, but warm – more than the total room shots. So much so that, going forward, I’m going to make “details” one of my regular categories.
Clearly on this cold weekend, I was still channeling winter’s chill in my photography. But you may notice a bit of thaw towards the end. Yahhhhh!
Stay tuned for pictures of the actual rooms….

I love how your style is so similar to “aunt stephanie’s”, and I imagine mine is to my families. That could be an interesting blog, one pic of moms house, one of daughter’s house. blog looks great! Encore!
