One of my favorite ways to decorate a child’s room is with quirky handmade dolls and critters. They make the nursery as individual as the little one who lives in it. And, to my mind at least, almost no one produces characters as unique and lovely as Timo Handmade.

Timo Handmade is the work of Israeli artist Timor Cohen who hand sews all her original products. The line was born from a random but extraordinary collection of scraps she had lying around – a shirt that was too small, a jar of buttons, a pillow case with a hole – that were begging for a new incarnation. And thus Timo Handmade was born. From dolls, to animals, balls, books and blankets, every Timo Handmade item is crafted from recycled materials – lovely linens and jolly prints. Even the scraps that are too small are used as stuffing.

But it’s not just the eco-friendliness of Timo Handmade that makes its items so special. Undeniably, it is the personality of the products as well as the freshness of their designs. Clearly Timor has tapped into an extraordinary imagination when conjuring her creations. Floppy rabbits and curious birds, charming dolls and gorgeous story books are delightful companions to any child’s playtime fantasy. (And, dare I say, grownup ones too.) Though primitive in style, Timor’s designs and striking colors are decidedly contemporary. Whimsical, original and timeless, Timo Handmade goods are perfect for any creative individual, no matter their size.
